4 The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ, 6 being ready to punish every act of disobedience, when your own obedience [as a church] is complete. (2 Corinthians 10 4-6)

Depression is sweeping this nation and other regions around the world like never before.  In essence, depression is a display of lack interest, lack of motivation, or the inability to facilitate daily life.  It is deep seated low feeling that normally occurs after some situation or action takes place that leaves the individual feeling devastated, destitute, and/ or hopeless.

There are different types or levels of depression:

  1. Persistent Depression, also recognized as Dysthymia, is a severe form depression that has been present for 2 years.
  2. Major Depression is depression that has been present for 2 weeks.
  3. Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder is stress with oppositional defiance disorder along with a negative mood and temper outbursts.
  4. Bipolar I Disorder – Depressive Disorder with manic (at least one manic episode).
  5. Bipolar II Disorder – Depressive Disorder with hypomanic (at least one hypomanic episode).
  6. Premenstrual Dyspneic Disorder is depressed and irritable in the final weeks of menges.
  7. Substance/Medication Intake Depressive Disorder – depressive feelings due to the intake of prescription or illegal drugs.

Also, two other depressive related states:

  1. Acute Stress Disorder – exposure or threatened death event, serious injury, or sexual violence.
  2. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence.

Throughout the historicity of the Bible there have been several characters or leaders that went through much anguish and different mental challenges.  To name a few that struggled with different mental events were Nebuchadnezzar, Moses, Paul, Peter, John, Elijah, and Samson to name a few.  Depression onsets because of being overtaken in negative thought and worrying about things beyond one’s control.  The thing to remember is that origin thought pattern that created depression has to be brought under subjection of God’s Word, period.  There is no situation, condition, or individual that should be ever seen larger than or exalter above God and all HE embodies!

Simple Antidote for Depression:

  • Stay focused in the here-n-now.
  • Never Stop Looking Up!
  • Never Stop Moving Forward.
  • Change what you can change for the betterment of your life.
  • Accept those things that you cannot change.
  • Give God constant glory always and thru all things!!!

May the God Host, prepare you mentally, physically, and spiritually to overcome all obstacles large or small that come before you in a depressive form!  For HE is the one that has granted you victory from the days of antiquity and will still grant victory today!
