2 Tim 1:5-7
As I study and deduce the holy written scripture, a sound mind is a mind of the moment, a mind of self-discipline/self-control, and a mind that desires to be upright in the presence of the Almighty God.
Now in the attempt to go deeper before I go further, the soundness of one’s mind will either allow that individual to prevail and overcome or be defeated and fail. The scripture indicates in Proverbs 23:7, so as a man thinks in his heart so is he. In analyzing the piece so is he, is a description of humanistic behavior or actions demonstrated versus the words that may have proceeded from that individual’s mouth. Therefore, I believe that the soundness of mind must be based solely on what do I feed my inner man. When I think about the heart (Leb in Hebrew) the inner man from a biblical standpoint it is not referring to the internal human organ that pumps blood, but it is that mid-portion of the human created trichotomy known as the “soul”. This is where feelings and simple reasoning of man is derived based upon what he/she experiences in daily living. So, if what I allow to inner my personal space is not predicated on the Spirit of God, which is the Word of God it will not render a sound mind. On the contrary, it will result in a mind that is troubled, uncertain, doubtful, wavers, inconsistent, and vacillates back-n-forth between what is and what is not!
In summation, a sound mind requires one to rely with total confidence/trust in His power, wisdom and goodness. For God did not give the believer a mind of fear, timidity, or cowardice. But He has given him a spirit of power, love, sound judgment, and personal discipline. The soundness of one’s mind will generate calmness, well-balance(ness) and self-control. These mentioned Godly orchestrated traits prepare one to have the power needed to become an overcomer and be victorious in area of his/her life.
So, my prayer for all viewers of this note is that the Lord of All bless you to dare to believe and operate with a sound mind. And to those that speak life-filled words based upon the leading of the Holy-Spirit, may you be planted in a supernatural posture to receive everlasting blessings, Amen.
