Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an
attitude of] humility [being neither arrogant nor self-righteous], regard others as more important
than yourselves. Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the
interests of others. Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him
as your example in selfless humility], Philippins 2:3-5 (AMP)
There is a narcissistic proclivity that is being displayed by many people in the world today. There is very little thinking of others first! It took me a long time to understand that life was not about me, my feelings, or wants. I came to understand on the contrary that life is about thinking of others and determining how to contribute to many things better for all. If this kind of mindset was displayed more often in the world around today, there would be less violent attacks, murders, and exploitation.
According to scripture it is noted that man should not be selfish, but display humility, consider the interest of others, and take on the mind of Christ who surrendered all and gave Himself up for all those that dare to believe, might have new life in Him. Each time we display compassion, kindness, and love and understanding toward others God is honored. Meeting the needs of others, above and beyond one’s personal feelings shows alignment to HIS Holy Word. No formal title is required to show the goodness of God. In the spirit of ministerial help – being available and willing to help in any way you can, providing a listening ear, being willing to forsake all else to answer a higher calling of HIS service, and allowing those God inspired responsibilities to take priority is the ultimate will.
It is a great joy not a task to be in the service of our Lord! Let Your loving kindness shine
through us that dare to believe, so that our actions will speak Your love. Amen.
